The man on the stairs MAMA Contest Entry 2

Yet another fear from my childhood... this one was my mothers fault... she used to tell me this story about a man who was killed by his wife(great story for a 4 year old i know...but i digress) anyway the man is poisoned over a period of a few weeks... and when he dies the wife burys him in the basement... a few nights go by... and the woman starts to hear banging like someone stomping up the stairs... she ignores it... the next night... and the next...then the stomping is fallowed by a voice
"im on the first stair"
stomp
"im on the second stair"
stomp
"im on the third stair"
stomp

at this point the woman grabs a knife thinking her husband wasnt really dead... she runs to the basement door... throws it open and no one is there... she turns thinking she's just imagining things... and turns smack into her dead and rotting husband...
who shrieks i'm right here and throws her down the stairs to her death!!!

needless to say i was terrifyed of the basement after that!!!
